Warren Fillman

Warren B. Fillman, age 81 of York, NE, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at York. He was born on August 22, 1926 at York to Henry and Myrtle (Baker) Fillman. He was a 1944 graduate of York High School and later graduated from York College. After graduating from college, he taught high school in Belgrade, NE until joining his father in the insurance business in York in 1953, where he worked until his death. In his younger days, he worked with his hands, in his spare time, doing masonry, remodeling, painting and building. Warren served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII from February of 1945 until November of 1946. He was united in marriage to Joan Davis on March 17, 1953 at York. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York and held offices within the Lutheran Layman’s League. He was also a member of the American Legion Bolton Post #19, serving as Adjutant, the Rotary Club, and was active in both the York Fun Club and the Yorkshire Playhouse. Warren enjoyed taking care of the Fillman Place, his family home, being at the office, going to coffee, taking his daily walk, spending time with his family, and attending many sporting events.

He is survived by his son Kent Fillman of Lincoln, NE; two daughters, Karen Berger of Layton, UT and Karla (LeRoy) Ott of York; and four grandchildren, Jack and Mike Berger of Layton and Henry and Nathan Ott of York. Also surviving is a brother Gordon (Madora ) Fillman of York; a sister Gwendolyn Dahlquist of Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife Joan.

Funeral services were Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Tim Marshall officiating. Military graveside services followed at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
