Dwight Fassnacht

Dwight A. Fassnacht, age 79, of Fairmont, NE died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at York, NE. He was born October 11, 1932 in York County, NE to Harley R. and Bertha (Roemer) Fassnacht. He graduated from McCool Jct. High School in 1950 and later served in the U.S. Army. He was married to Margel Walter on August 3, 1974 at McCool Jct. Dwight was a lifelong farmer and cattle breeder in the Fairmont area. He was a lifetime member of the Aberdeen Black Angus Association which his family had belonged to since 1917. He was a member of the Fairmont Clown Club and an avid brandy snifter collector. He also enjoyed playing cards and square dancing.

He is survived by his wife Margel of Fairmont; son Tom (Marlys) Roe of Webster City, IA; daughters, Diane (Kent) Chrisman of York and Connie (Dan) Hall of McCool Jct, NE, and Dr. Su Hunter of Alachua, FL; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Ramer (Iola) Fassnacht of Hampton, NE and Harley Paul (Jo) Fassnacht of Aurora, NE; two sisters, Byrdene Thompson of Perry, IA and Naomi Fassnacht of Fairmont. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother Wallace, and sister Louise Hasenkamp.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in McCool Jct., NE. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at McCool Jct., NE. Memorials may be directed to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. There will be no viewing or visitation.
