Harriet Ewerdt
Harriet Hattie (Bloedow) Ewerdt, age 83 of York, NE, died June 16, 2010 in Omaha, NE. She was born in Lomira, WI to Harvey and Adela (Priest) Bloedow on June 28, 1926. She was baptized at St. John’s in Lomira and confirmed in her faith on April 2, 1939 by Pastor Phillip Martin at St. Luke’s, Knowles, WI. In 1944 she graduated from Lomira High School. During WWII, she worked for the Veteran’s Administration in Washington DC. She married Albert Ewerdt on August 23, 1947. She worked for 27 years for the US Postal Service. After retiring, she enjoyed helping out at their church and school in Grafton, WI. After moving to York, NE, she volunteered at Blue Valley. Harriet was an active member in her church, currently at Bethel, York, NE, and enjoyed attending LWMS Rallies and Conventions.
Harriet is survived by three sons: David of York, NE, Kenneth (Tresa) of Ixonia, WI, Richard of York, NE; daughter Linda (Ardean) Nunnenkamp of Waco, NE; 10 grandchildren: Christopher (Cynthia) Ewerdt of Omaha, NE, Alicia (Aaron) Wells of Louisville, KY, Katrina Taylor of Osmond, NE, Maranda (Shane) Coop of Scottsbluff, NE, Aaron (Tammy) Ewerdt of West Palm Beach Garden, FL, Jacob (Trisha) Ewerdt of Chicago, IL, Philip (Hannah) Ewerdt of St. Paul, MN, Clint (Summer) Nunnenkamp of Hastings, NE, Jason Nunnenkamp of Omaha, NE, and Anthony Nunnenkamp of Omaha, NE; and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Berniece Marten of Dunkenville, PA, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ewerdt, parents, Harvey and Adela Bloedow, and two sisters Dorothy Schultz and Joyce Waehler.
Funeral services were held at 9:00 a.m., Monday June 21, 2010 at Bethel Lutheran Church 8th & East Ave in York. Burial followed at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Gresham, NE. Memorials may be given to Bethel Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Grade School, Waco or Nebraska Lutheran High School, Waco.
