Albert Clarence Ewerdt, age 83 of York, NE, died Monday, April 21, 2008 in Lincoln. He was born in Brownsville, WI to Otto and Marie (Schultz) Ewerdt on October 21, 1924, and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paulís Lutheran Church, Brownsville, WI. In 1942, he graduated from Lomira High School, Lomira, WI. Albert was a decorated war veteran serving in WWII in the European Theatre as a medic in the Timberwolf Division. On August 23, 1947, he married Harriet (Happy) Bloedow. Albert worked as a carpenter for 38 years, part of this time he worked at resurfacing bowling alleys. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and Brewer baseball. In his 83 years, he was an active member at St. Paulís, Brownsville, WI, Redeemer, Cedarburg, WI, Our Savior, Grafton, WI and Bethel, York, NE.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years; 3 sons, David of York, NE, Pastor Kenneth (Tresa) of Ixonia, WI and Richard of York, one daughter Linda (Ardean) Nunnenkamp of Waco, NE; ten grandchildren: Christopher (Cynthia) Ewerdt, Omaha, NE, Alicia (Aaron) Wells, Louisville, KY, Katryna Taylor of Niobrara, NE, Maranda (Shane) Coop, Scottsbluff, NE, Aaron (Tammy) Ewerdt, West Palm Beach Garden, FL, Jacob (Tricia) Ewerdt, Chicago, IL, Philip (Hannah) Ewerdt, New Ulm, MN, Clint (Summer) Nunnenkamp, Hastings, NE, Jason (Jani) Nunnenkamp, Omaha, NE and Anthony Nunnenkamp, Fremont, NE; and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Ruth Westphal , one brother Theodore and one sister-in-law, Ruth Ewerdt, several nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Irene Westphal, Siloah Pieper and Talitha Gruenenfelder and two brothers Arnold and Karl.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Bethel Lutheran Church 8th & East Ave. in York with Reverend Mark Haefner officiating. Burial followed at St. Paulís Cemetery, Gresham, NE. Memorials may be given to Bethel Lutheran Church, York, Trinity Lutheran Grade School, Waco or Nebraska Lutheran High School, Waco.
