Verna Epp
Verna Mae Epp of Henderson, Nebraska passed into the Lord’s presence on May 17, 2008, in Aurora, Nebraska at the age of 90 years. She was born on April 29, 1918, on a farm near Henderson, Nebraska to John H. and Sarah (Nachtigall) Regier.
She spent her youth in Collinsville, Oklahoma, Hillsboro, Kansas, Dalhart, Texas, and Henderson, Nebraska. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized on May 25, 1931 by Pastor A.L. Scheilenberg in Coldwater, Texas.
Herman Kliewer and Verna Regier were united in marriage on August 23, 1936 by the Reverend David Hooge in Henderson, Nebraska. The Lord blessed them with three children - Betty, Richard, and Ardean. Herman was killed by lightening on June 27, 1960, while cultivating corn on their farm in Hamilton County.
Verna worked as a secretary at Grace Children’s Home, in the Henderson School cafeteria, and the Henderson Nursing Home. She was an active member of the Henderson Mennonite Brethren Church and the Henderson Garden Club.
Adolph C. Epp and Verna were united in marriage on August 12, 1972 by the Reverend Clarence Hiebert in Henderson, Nebraska. Adolph Epp was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Friesen Epp. Children born to Adolph and Clara were Sharon and Janet.
Survivors include: husband, Adolph Epp, son-in-law: John Penner of Colleyville, Texas, sons: Richard Kliewer of Hesston, Kansas and Ardean and Jacki Kliewer of Moorhead, Minnesota, stepdaughters: Sharon and David Orr of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Janet and Orin Kliewer of Stockham, Nebraska, sisters: Edna Ediger of Reedley, California, and Elsie Richert of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman Kliewer, daughter: Betty Penner, her parents: John H. and Sarah Regier, brother: John Regier (in infancy), sister: Annie Bartel, and brother: John Reuben Regier.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Henderson Mennonite Brethren Church, Henderson, Nebraska with Pastor J Epp officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
