Bill Eppenbaugh
Bill D. Eppenbaugh age 79 of York, NE died Saturday, March 24, 2007 in Lincoln.
He was born January 26, 1928 in Seward County, NE to Herbert and Phoebe (Markle) Eppenbaugh. Bill was employed in the grocery business since high school eventually co-owning and operating the Utica Grocery store for many years. He was a veteran serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, was a member of the Utica Masonic Lodge #96 and the Utica Order of the Eastern Star #199 both for over 50 years. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, loved to garden and also bird watch. He was also an avid Husker fan.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York as well.
On June 26, 1949 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Rurup at Utica, NE.
Bill is survived by his wife Phyllis of York; two daughters: Deb and her husband Rich Hanneman of Omaha and Sandy and her husband Mike Butera of Papillion; and six grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother Jerry L. “Butch” and his wife Jackie Eppenbaugh of Yuma, Arizona and his sister Dixie (John) Giebelman of Norfolk. Nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Military graveside were then held in the Utica Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
