Emma Epp

Emma Epp, age 91, of Henderson, NE, died Monday, November 23, 2009 at Henderson. She was born April 1, 1918 at Henderson to Johann and Aganetha (Janzen) Thieszen. She was united in marriage to Jacob J. Epp on August 24, 1938. Emma was a faithful member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson and was active in Mennonite Women Sewing Circles as long as her health allowed. Emma enjoyed photo retouching, working with ceramics, writing poetry, embroidering, sewing, painting, quilting, and gardening.

Emma’s survivors include six children: Amanda (Marlyn) Fast of Goshen, IN, Arlene (Robert) Pearsall of Sioux Falls, SD, LeRoy (Janette) Epp of Marion, SD, Aldena (Ronald) Ecklein of Salem SD, Berdon Epp of Henderson, and LaVonne (Rudy) Brockmueller of Freeman, SD. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a foster sister-in-law Tena Dick of Henderson. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, infant (stillborn) son, Ralph, three sisters, Anna Peters, Agnes Bergen and Marie Buller, and brothers, John and Gustav Thieszen.

Graveside services were held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Bethesda Cemetery, Henderson. Memorial services followed at 10:00 a.m. at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Reverend Jim Voth officiating.
