Vivien Jeannette Emken
Vivien Jeannette Emken, age 91, of York, died Thursday, July 3, 2002 at York. She was born September 10, 1911 in Hamilton County to Harry Leland and Mary Jeannette (McMurrin) Bryant. She was a housewife and a member of the Arborville Congregational United Church of Christ near Polk.
At 16 months of age she moved with her parents and brother to Indianapolis, IN, where they lived until April of 1920 when together with her mother and brother she moved to Polk, NE where she graduated from Polk High School in 1929.
On June 19, 1929 she was married to Arthur Emken who was a farmer, cattle and hog feeder near Benedict. The following spring they moved to a farm in Polk County until 1943 when they returned to the farm in York County.
Vivien is survived by her 5 children; Doris (Bob) Heineke, Duane (Patsy) Emken, Leila Kailey, Leland (Rose) Emken and Harry (Donna) Emken. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, bother & sister, stepfather, 2 stepmothers, 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m. at the Arborville Church near Polk with burial in the Arborville Cemetery.
