Luella Ells

Luella F. Ells, age 95, of York, died Friday, September 22 in York. She was born December 12, 1910 at Clay Center, NE, the youngest of 5 children of George and May (Seelig) Schwab. Luella taught school in Clay & Fillmore Counties and later traveled extensively throughout the United States and each of the continents. Luella was a sales person for many years in furs, custom tailored clothes and life insurance. She married Raymond Ells on April 18, 1965 in her childhood home in Clay Center. They made their home in York where Luella was a member of the Baptist Congregational Church & Guild, past president of the York Federated Woman’s Club, charter member and past president of the York La Sertoma Club, and past president of the Chat & Chew Club. She organized the reunion of her husband’s Army unit and served as their president for 5 years, attending 11 reunions throughout the United States.

Luella is survived by her step-daughter Elma (Chuck) Dreesen of Lincoln, many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.

Luella has been cremated and her memorial service was held on September 27, 2006 at the Baptist Congregational Church in York with the Rev. Coral Eberly officiating. Inurnment was at the Greenwood Cemetery in York.
