Adella L. Ells

Adella L. Ells, age 83, of Lincoln, former longtime York resident, died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at Lincoln. Adella was born April 11, 1920 near Gilead in Thayer County Nebraska to John and Amalia (Pabst) George. She graduated from Hebron High School in 1937 and in 1938 she was married to George Franklin Ells at Beatrice. Her husband George was a partner in the H. Ells Oil Co. at York for nearly 50 years and Adella served as bookkeeper. She was a member of the Baptist Congregational Church in York, the VFW Auxiliary and the York Hospital Auxiliary.

Adella is survived by her daughter Nancy and her husband Ricky Schmutte of Roca; two granddaughters, Christy and her husband John Crossley and Laurie Egbarts and her fiance Kirk French, all of Kansas City, Kan. Also surviving are her sister Leona Bauman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her sister-in-law Eunice George of Washington, Kan.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and Biscuit, her favorite dog in the world. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two infant daughters, infant sister and brothers, Lawrence, Harry and Arthur.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 4 at 2 p.m. at the Metz Chapel in York with Phil Towle. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery of York.
