RoseAnn Ellison

RoseAnn Ellison, age 59 of Geneva, NE died Monday, March 21, 2005 at Lincoln, NE. She was born on December 15, 1945 at York, NE to Floyd John and Orthabelle Charlotte Gunlack. She was one of two children in the family. RoseAnn lived in Fairmont until high school graduation. She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1967 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught school in Fremont for 1 year, Bennett for 3 years, Geneva Catholic School for 1 year and also taught for 6 years at Geneva Public Elementary. She began her Day Care Center in 1979 and continued for over 25 years. She always helped the children with their homework before they left for the day. On July 7, 1968 she was married to Richard Ellison at Fairmont. RoseAnn was a member of the Geneva United Methodist Church and was active in the Sunday School Program where she was Sunday School Superintendent. She spent the entire week planning the lesson, decorating the room and creating a fun-filled experience for her students. She received commendation from Cokesbury Press for her energetic use of their material. She loved teaching Bible studies at home and at the church. At one time she tutored at the Geneva County Jail. RoseAnn enjoyed planning various types of parties for her family and friends. She also loved to do arts and crafts as well. RoseAnn began each day walking with her friend Pat Hobbs. They walked over 100 miles each year. RoseAnn enjoyed playing the piano for early church and serving on various committees. Her love of God was the center of her life. She made the best of every situation and gave hope to those in despair. She comforted her family during her illness, suggesting they read the Bible when they are blue because there are lots of good things in that book. She continually expressed her love for family and friends and made them feel special.

She is survived by her husband Richard of Geneva; two sons, John Ellison and his fiancée, Amanda Lott of Friend, Cory and his wife Jammie Ellison of Geneva; one sister, Nancy Jo and her husband Jerry Galusha of Fairmont; sisters-in-law Nancy and her husband Galen Domling of Geneva, Judy and her husband Chuck Smith of Lincoln, Virginia and her husband Pat Carlson of Sutton. Mother and father-in-law Orval & Irene Ellison of Geneva; grandchildren, Kasey, Jacoub and Alexis Ellison all of Geneva, Devin Lott of Friend, and Tyler Edwards of Gilead. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the Geneva United Methodist Church with the Reverend Pat Kelly and the Reverend Dr Don Marsh officiating. Private family interment will be held in the Geneva Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Geneva United Methodist Church Sunday School Department or the American Cancer Society. RoseAnn wished that her body be cremated so there will be no viewing or visitation prior to services.
