Elsie Ellison
Elsie Faye Ellison 91, of Thayer, NE went to be in the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, February 25, 2007. She was born September 12, 1915 to John H. and Grace (Purdy) Worley at Geneva, NE. She was married to Ralph O. Ellison in Campbell, NE on May 2, 1937. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1997. Ralph and Elsie lived on a farm near Geneva from 1937 until 1948 when they moved to a farm near Thayer where she has resided since. She has spent the last several winters in Texas with two of her daughters. She was in Denton, TX when she passed away. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, reading and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She called her family her “Blessings.”
She is survived by her eight children: Ronald Ellison and wife Donna of Gresham, NE; Sharon Odle and husband Carl of Denton, TX; Joyce Kelley and husband Thomas of Edmond, OK; Jerry Ellison and wife Sharon of Benedict, NE; Laura Fox and husband Jack of Springfield, IL; Gaylord Ellison of Thayer; Jeannette Cronan and husband Rod of Plano, TX; Dale Ellison and wife Michelle of Yukon, OK; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one sister Vera Woodman and husband Dick of Corpus Christi, TX; one brother John Worley and wife Miriam of Franklin, OH; and two sisters-in-law: Deloris Baker of Kansas and Helen Worley of Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Glen and Bob, one sister Carol Worley-Thorne, and a great-granddaughter Morgan Deprez.
A “Home Going Service” will be held in the New Life Church of the Nazarene at York on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Galen Skinner officiating. Graveside services will follow at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday at the mortuary with the family greeting friends and neighbors from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the family.
