Raymond L. Eichman
Raymond L. Eichman, age 70 of York, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Lincoln, NE. He was horn on June 19, 1933 in Trego County, KS to John Frederick and Bertha (Bender) Eichman. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 and was married to Adell Hillmer on June 15, 1958 in York. Until his retirement, Raymond was the owner/operator of Raydell Construction Co., Rural Lumber & Supply and Wood Perfections. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in York and a past member of the Nebraska Home Builders Association. He enjoyed his grandchildren, woodworking, windmills, raising peacocks and his special pet `Bernie the buffalo.'
Survivors include his wife, Adell of York; daughters, Kristi (Thomas) Weber, Hampton, NE, Raylene (Randy) Lawson, Aurora, NE, Lori (Terry) Tobin, York, NE; grandchildren, Amanda & Christa Weber, Jacob Lawson, Dustin, Cody & Caleb Tobin; special friend, Crystal Hood;
Brothers, Paul (Norma) Eichman of Quinter, KS, Herman (Verna) Eichman of Waverly Hall, GA, Thelmer Eichman of Woodland Hills, CA; sisters, Leah Meyers of Denver, CO, Elsa Kerksiek of Strasburg, CO, Elm. Helwig, Greensburg, KS, Bertha Yanda, Quinter, KS, Martha Stegman, Ransom, KS and Frieda Colberg, Ellis, KS. Also surviving are a nephew, Norman (JoNell) Snodgrass of McCool Jct., NE and a brother-in-law Cliff Stramel of Oakley, KS. And his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Rosa Snodgrass, Clara Halbeib, Wanda Stramel and an infant brother, Wilhelm "Billy" Eichman.
Funeral services were Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Art Schauer officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery at York. Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church's “Grow and Build in Love” project or to the Epworth Village Foundation.
