Edna Edgerly

Edna Margaret Edgerley, age 81, of York, NE, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at York. She was born to Mary and Joe Hammes, St. Benedict, KS on August 12, 1929. Edna married Harry “Burt” Edgerley August 12, 1948. The couple moved to York in 1953. She was an active participant in this community. She enjoyed cards and socializing with her many friends. Edna and Burt worked together in Edgerley Insurance and Edna continued after Burt’s death for about 35 years. She took pride in her helpful service to her clients. The past three years she has lived at York General Hearthstone where she was the “Resident’s President.” She loved her final home on earth and all of the generous loving staff there.

She is survived by a daughter, Therese (Jim) Anderson of Northfield, MN, a son Joe Edgerley (Maryanne) of Kasota, MN, a daughter Mary Alley of York, NE, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren as well as her sister Luella Brinker of Seneca, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burt, son John, great-granddaughter, Lacey Anderson, her parents plus four brothers and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, York, NE. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
