LaVerne Duell

LaVerne Luther Duell age 74 of York, NE went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Grand Island. He was born March 3, 1932 at Greeley, CO to Oscar and Anna (Swanson) Duell. LaVerne served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his military service he made his career mainly in the truck driving industry and with some years in the construction business. He retired from driving for Crete Carriers in 1996. He was united in marriage on May 23, 1981 at Hampton, NE to Linda Jane Pinneo of York. They lived in Wyoming and South Dakota for a short while before making their home in York. LaVerne enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, gardening and spending precious years with his wife Linda.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Linda of York, a brother Leonard Duell of York, sisters-in-law Patsy (Pinneo) and husband Bill Rempel of Seward, Mae (Pinneo) and husband Max Gray of York, Barb (Pinneo) and husband Francis Matlock of York, Alice Johnson of Iowa Falls, IA, Bonnie Duell of Copertino, CA, and brothers-in-law Phillip Hansen of York and Donald Pinneo and his wife Wynona of Lake Forrest, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Doug Rempel of Seward, Mark and his wife Jan Gray of York, Brian Gray of York, Corrina (Matlock) and husband Dennis Mason of Grand Island, Tammy (Matlock) and husband John Dickmeyer of St Joseph, MO, Lydell Pinneo and wife Crystal of Stromsburg, Brittany Pinneo of York and Amanda Hansen also of York along with many great nieces, nephews and close friends. Very special friends include Bondel Friesen and Orpha Friesen both of York He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister–in-law Jeannie (Pinneo) Hansen.

Funeral services were held, Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Terry Cosier and the Reverend Dick Woolard officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
