Ronald Doremus

Ronald Eugene Doremus age 62 of York, NE died Thursday, March 19, 2008 at Grand Island, NE. He was born February 9, 1947 at Stromsburg, NE to Donald M and Shirley M. (Baker) Doremus and attended the Methodist Church. Ron was a heavy equipment operator for York County for over 15 yrs and had served his country as a Viet Nam Veteran from 1966 – 1968. He enjoyed motorcycles, cars and traveling. On September 9, 1999 he was married to Charlotte K. Gibson at York.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte of York, his mother Shirley Doremus of York, his brothers Randy and his wife Sandy Doremus and Robbie Doremus and Rick Doremus all of York; one sister Tammy and her husband Terry Trofholz also of York. Also surviving is his son Chad Rutten of York and his daughter Michelle Rutten of McCool Jct; four stepchildren, Patrick and his wife Christine Gibson of Omaha, NE, Holly and her husband Chuck Nunn of Henderson, NE, Heidi and her husband Shane McCoy of Lincoln, NE and Jessica and her husband Cody Gibson of York. four Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 pm Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Military graveside services will follow in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Visitation will begin after 1:00 pm Saturday with Ron’s family greeting friends later that evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
