Don Doremus

Donald M. Doremus, age 78, longtime York businessman, died Saturday, July 30, 2005 at York. He was born March 20, 1927 at Benedict, NE to Archie J. and Gracie I. (Wilkinson) Doremus. Don married Shirley M. Baker at Belleville, KS on August 26, 1947. He was the owner and operator of Doremus Construction Co. for 48 years. Don was an antique collector and was a regular auction attender. He is survived by his wife Shirley of York, 4 sons and 1 daughter; Ron & Charlotte Doremus, Randy & Sandy Doremus, Tammy & Terry Trofholz, Robbie Doremus and Rick Doremus all of York; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Laura & Milton Ulmer of Redding, CA, Dorothy & Bob Hatfield of San Jose, CA and Marjorie & Lee Bolton of Fremont, NE. Preceding him in death were his parents and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Rev. Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will begin at 5 pm on Monday at the mortuary.
