Roy W. Dinkelman of York, NE passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 1 day.
Roy was born August 7, 1922 to Herman and Johanna (Wiemer) Dinkelman at Waco, NE. He was baptized September 3, 1922 at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, Waco by Rev. F. Wunderlich. He was confirmed May 17, 1936 at St. Paulís Lutheran Church, Utica by Rev. Irvin Hartman. Roy attended St. Paulís Lutheran grade school through eighth grade and graduated May 16, 1940 from Utica High School.
On August 11, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ruby Marie Blum at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, Waco. Their marriage was blessed with eight children. They farmed in the Utica-Waco area until Roy retired in 1987.
Roy was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church, Utica for 88 years where he served on various boards. His hobbies after retirement included gardening, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and woodworking. As a special gift to their children, Roy and Ruby made each of them a grandfather clock.
Survivors include, Ruby of York; five daughters: Nancy (Corwin) Hengelfelt of Stromsburg, NE, Becky (Keith) Brunkow of Firth, NE, Sharri (Jim) Baldonado of Elwood, NE, Kay Dinkelman of Lincoln, NE, and Lisa (Jack) Schreiner of Hastings, NE; three sons: Gale (Sara) Dinkelman of Waco, Gene (Andrea ) Dinkelman of Ames, IA, and Kent (Kellie) Dinkelman of Omaha, NE; sixteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Hubert Gloystein; three sisters-in-law LaVerna Blum, Mildred Klemsz, and Joan (Burton) Hoffschneider; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Johanna; his sister Eileen Gloystein; five brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at St. Paulís Lutheran
Church in Utica, NE. Interment was in Yorkís Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the
family to be designated at a later date.
