Roger Deitrick
Roger Evans Deitrick age 76 of York, NE, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at York. He was born on April 11, 1932 at Lucas, IA to Cecil and Doris (Evans) Deitrick. Mr. Deitrick graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha and served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a fighter pilot. He also graduated from the US Naval Test Pilot School at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, the home of the “Right Stuff.” He was the 124th Marine to be designated a test pilot. He resigned his commission as a Major and flew for 26 years for United Airlines, from which he retired in 1994. He lived in Colorado for 32 years and moved to York in 2008. Roger enjoyed all outdoor sports including skiing, hiking and canoeing. He was an avid traveler with his wife and enjoyed working with computers.
He is survived by his wife Georgia Kaeding Deitrick of York.
His brothers in law include Jerry and his wife Chris Kaeding of Bull Shoals, ARK and Tom and his wife Karen Kaeding of York.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Military graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 16 at York’s Greenwood Cemetery with the Reverend Mike Neidow officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tabitha Hospice or to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.
