Larry Critel

Larry Gene Critel, age 65, of York, NE, was called home to the Lord on Friday, January 18, 2008 at York. He was born on August 20, 1942 at Lushton, NE to Alvin and Elizabeth (Grigsby) Critel. He attended country school and graduated from McCool Junction High School. Larry was united in marriage to Diann Jean Nienhueser on July 21, 1963 in York. To this union four children were born: Tammi, Andrew, Gail, and Christopher. Larry was a lifelong farmer south of York. In addition to his love of the land, Larry also enjoyed raising cattle, going to sales and working with all kinds of metal. He also enjoyed collecting eagles. First and foremost, Larry’s passion was spending time with his family. He attended many of his children and grandchildrens’ activities and school and church events. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Diann of York; daughters, Tammi (Terry) Naber of Geneva, Gail Critel of Inglewood, CA; sons, Andy (Brenda) Critel of Trumbull, NE, and Chris (Cindy) Critel of York. He is also survived by seven grandsons, Tyler Naber of Elkhorn, NE, Andrew Neville of York, Joshua Critel, Jared Critel, and Jacob Critel of Trumbull, Trevor Naber and Trenton Naber of Geneva; 3 granddaughters, Jessica Critel, Jamie Critel, and Jenna Critel all of Trumbull. Surviving also is his mother Elizabeth Critel of York; brother Loyd (Carol) Critel of Lincoln; sisters, Evelyn (Delmar) Polacek of Surprise, NE and Barbara (Mickey) Haydel of Silver Lake, WA, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Preceding him in death is his father Alvin; parents-in-law Ernst and Elinore Nienhueser; sister Ardyce Burton and his brother Boyd Critel.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, south of Waco, with the Reverend Paul Kern officiating. Burial followed at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
