Belva Jean Crawford
Belva Jean Crawford age 88 of York, NE died Friday, December 23, 2005 at York.
She was born November 10, 1917 in rural York County, NE to Albert and Ethel (Mapps) McCarty. She graduated from York High School in 1936. Belva Jean was a longtime active member of the First Presbyterian Church in York, the D.A.R. of the David Bryant Chapter in York, she loved sewing, gardening, baking and was an avid collector of antiques especially hummels. Belva Jean also was employed by the York Public Schools for many years with the high school’s lunch program.
On September 4, 1938 Belva Jean was married to George E. Crawford at York where they made their home at 501 East 14th St for over 60 years.
She is survived by her son Noel and his wife Anita Crawford of Elkton, Maryland.
Five grandchildren, Stephanie and her husband Kent Svee of Minneapolis, MN, Kirsten and her husband Scott Block of Peoria, Ill, Holly and her husband George Ulmer, George Noel Jr and Mary Katherine Crawford all of Elkton, MD.
Four Great Grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister Lurie and her husband James Haught of Mountain Home Ark and special friends Orville and Sharon Davidson of York.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Cynthia Crawford Halvorson and a grandson Matt Crawford.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in York with the Reverend Michael Eickhoff officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to Tabitha Healthcare Services or Adopt a Pet in York. Visitation begins after 1:00 p.m., Monday at the mortuary.
