Darrell Cosgrove

Darrell Cosgrove age 61 of York, died at home Monday, September 17, 2007. He was born September 22, 1945 in Bassett to Frank and Grace Cosgrove. He was a 1963 Rock County High School graduate, and earned his college degree from the University of Nebraska -Lincoln in Ag Economics and Finance. He served his country in Vietnam. Returning from the military he worked in banking in Hooper Nebraska. Later he lived in Lincoln and served the surrounding area as a territory manager for New Holland. On June 19, 1971 he married Beth Monson from Osceola. To this marriage, two daughters were born, Denise and Brenda. After his New Holland career, Darrell opened a Valmont dealership in Fairbury. They also resided a short time in Kearney before moving to their present home in York where they have lived for 24 years. Darrell was Owner/Broker of Ag and Home Realty. Throughout his life he was proud to be a member of the farming and agriculture community.

Darrell attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was active in the Realtor Association, both state and local. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles, American Legion, and the York Country Club. Darrell will long be remembered for his characteristic laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Beth of York; daughters: Denise (Brian) Cosgrove Dewes, Noblesville, IN and Brenda Cosgrove, Kokomo, IN; grandson Braeden Dewes; brothers Jim (Ann) Cosgrove, Tempe, AZ, Gene (Gwen) Cosgrove, Bassett, NE; brother-in-law Louis (Sandy) Monson, Lincoln; special friends Larry and Rita Hoblyn and Carol and Bill Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends. Preceding him in death were his parents.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Terry Cosier officiating. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
