Bonnie Conrad

Bonnie J. Conrad, age 72, of York, died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at York. She was born November 12, 1933 at Burwell, Nebraska to Walter and Ella (Shafer) Conard. Bonnie was united in marriage to Paul “Jack” Conrad on September 5, 1953 at Sacred Heart Church in Burwell.

Bonnie graduated beauty school in Norfolk, NE and utilized her education to open Bonnie’s Beauty Shop in York, her expertise, which endured for over 40 years. She also worked for the City of York for 10 years as a Custodial Maintenance Technician. Bonnie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York and was a member of the Alter Society. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and cleaning.

She is survived by her husband Jack; two daughters: Kim Conrad of York and Kris (Bill) Walkup of York; two sons: Greg Conrad of York and Eric (Jennifer) Conrad of Nebraska City; Grandchildren: Josh (Jenny) Conrad of York, Chelsea Walkup of Lincoln, Nicole and Sean Walkup of York, and Andrew, Peter, Katie, and Jonathan Conrad of Nebraska City; and two great-grandchildren: Keeley and Nicholas Conrad of York. She is also survived by three brothers: Wayne Conard of California; Randall (Deb) Conard of York, and Walter (Janet) Conard of Wyoming, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son Nicholas, one brother, and three sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with Father Leo Seiker officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery following the service. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Metz Mortuary. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family.
