Bessie Collingham

Bessie L. Collingham age 91 of York died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Hearthstone in York. She was born on June 13, 1915 at Chapman, NE to Steven and Fannie May (Fletcher) Sears. Bessie was married to Raymond J. Collingham on February 14, 1934 in Osceola, NE and was a member of the First Christian Church in York. Bessie took pleasure in yard work, especially in her flower garden. She enjoyed the family trips to Colorado, Oregon, and California. She cherished the time spent with her family, looking forward to family birthdays and caring for her granddaughter Michelle on Friday nights.

She is survived by a daughter: Nancy Hensing and Jack Austin from Colorado; three sisters Geraldine Stites from California, Eva Best from Oregon and JoAnn and husband Bruce Hamilton also from Oregon; one brother Don Sears and wife Darlene from Oregon; grandchildren: Sue and husband Allan Zavodny, Gene Ellis and wife Sandy, Pat Smith and Wayne Harrison, Cindy and husband David Martinez, Karen and husband Mike Spitler, Dan Hensing, Doris and husband Kevin Hoffman, Ron Weldon and wife Chris, Michelle Weldon; her many great and great great grandchildren; sons-in-law Dick Ellis and Wilbert Weldon; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two daughters Dee Ellis and Lynn Weldon, granddaughter Leann Lankford, son-in-law Don Hensing, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the First Christian Church in York with the Reverend Ron Johnson officiating. Burial was at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
