Michael Cole

Michael J. Cole, age 20, of Gresham, NE, died Sunday, July 26, 2009. He was born February 11, 1989 at Cody, WY to Michael Arkel and Becky Cole. He was a 2007 graduate of Lincoln Northstar High School and attended one year of college. He was a management trainee at Subway in York and was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying football and baseball.

He is survived by his father Michael Arkel of Benedict, NE; mother Becky Cole of York, NE; brothers, Zachary Cole of Lincoln, NE, Joey Arkel of Benedict; sisters, Jenna Arkel of Benedict, and Kaylei Denison of Lincoln; step-mother Brenda Arkel of Benedict; grandparents Leora and Doug Fort of Glenwood, IA; grandmother Virginia Arkel of Seward, NE; great-grandmothers, Argie Cole of Henderson, IA and Mildred Meyers of Garland, NE. Also surviving are his aunts, Laurie Cole of York and Tori (Ed) Belhave of Manilla, IA; uncle Herb Ihde of Gresham and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding him in death were his grandfather’s, Ron Cole and Joseph Arkel and cousins, Thomas and Chelsea Ihde.

Combined funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in York, NE with the Reverends Art Phillips and Lowell Meyers officiating. Burial will be in the Seward Cemetery, Seward, NE. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the mortuary. The family requests informal services and would like everyone to “come as you are.” Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
