Doris Cleland

Doris Rose Cleland age 72 of York died Friday, December 14, 2007 at York. She was born March 17, 1935 at Loup City, NE to William and Myrtle (Rogers) Schnase. Doris was a member of the East Hill Church of Christ in York and worked for many years as a baker at the Chances R Restaurant also in York. She had many hobbies including gardening, sewing, crocheting and genealogy. She was a talented painter and also enjoyed her greeting card ministry. Doris also loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. On June 3, 1961 she was united in marriage to Eldsworth S. Cleland in Lincoln, NE.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Eldsworth of York; three daughters, Linda E. (Roger) Poellot of York, Debra E. (Kurt) Tatro of Geneva, NE, Yvonne M. (Frank) Williams of York; one son Russell R. Cleland of Stromsburg, NE; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are three brothers, Grant (Margie) Schnase of Ansley, NE, William (Mary Jane) Schnase of Denton, NE, Carl (Clare) Schnase of Davey, NE; five sisters, Lois (Tony) Kuligowski and Myrtle (Emil) Kuligowski all of Loup City, NE, Juanita (Leonard) Szafrajda of Gibbon, NE, Winona (Ronald) Pointkowski of Loup City, NE , Leona (Richard) Kluna of Grand Island, NE; three sisters-in-law, Irene Schnase of Shelton, NE, Glenna Larson of Lincoln and Virginia Tewell of Inland, NE. Preceding her in death were her parents, son David and twin sons Dean & Daniel a brother John; brother-in-laws Ivan and LaVerne.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at East Hill Church of Christ with Bruce Goodwin and Rick Eldred officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to the family or to the American Cancer Society.
