Warren Allen Clark

Warren Allen Clark, age 83 of Lincoln, former longtime York resident and businessman, died at his home in Lincoln on Sunday, January 11, 2004. Warren was born at York on June 10, 1920 to Ora L. and Nolah (Allen) Clark. He was a 1938 graduate of York High School and 1943 graduate of the University of Nebraska with a BS in Civil Engineering. In June of 1943 he went to Washington DC and worked with the Navy in the Hydrographic Office as an oceanographer until he joined the Army in October of 1944. While in Washington DC, he met and married Nettie Marsh from Texas on February 19, 1944. In the Army he served in the European Theater and Ft. Monroe, VA. He and his family returned to York in April of 1947 and with his dad, started the O.L. Clark and Son Construction Co. and also the O.L. Clark and Son Lumber Yard. They developed the Arbor Heights, Arbor Court, Country Club Heights and Olympic Gardens additions to the city of York. Warren’s community service included service on the York City Council, Board of Adjustment, Planning Commission and Board of Public Works. He was past president of the York Country Club and served as president to the Greenwood Cemetery in York for 23 years. Warren had managed one of York’s semi-pro baseball teams, managed Little League Baseball teams and served as an officer for the York Sharks Swim Team. He also had been a member of the York Drum and Bugle Corp, York Masonic Lodge, Shrine & Shrine Clown Unit, York American Legion, VFW, York Elks Lodge and had served as treasurer for Boy Scout Troup 173. Warren had been a longtime member of the Baptist-Congregational Church in York and later joined the First Presbyterian Church in York. He currently was a member of the Southern Heights Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. Warren and his wife Nettie moved to Lincoln in April of 2002.

Warren is survived by his wife Nettie of Lincoln and their 3 children; sons Richard and his wife Cathy Clark of Kingwood, TX, Robert and his wife Liz of Wilber and daughter Connie and her husband Robert Bergman of Lincoln; grandchildren, Shawn Clark, Courtney (Tony) Piccoli, Gabe (Tanya) Korn, Adam (Jennifer) Korn and Sarah Bergman; 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his 2 brothers, Delmer (Alice) Clark of Forsyth, MO and Lloyd (Theo) Clark of Ft. Collins, CO; brother-in-law Eugene Marsh of Janesville, CA and sister-in-law Dell Hanover of Calvert, TX.

Warren has been cremated and there will be a memorial service on Friday at the Metz Chapel in York at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Greenwood Cemetery, Madonna Rehab Hospital or your favorite charity.
