Neva Claassen

Neva J. Claassen, age 86 of Henderson, NE, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Henderson. She was born March 8, 1923 at Henderson to Peter J. and Anna (Friesen) Ratzlaff. Neva was united in marriage to Elmer Claassen on March 7, 1942. She worked for 20 years in the kitchen at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, as well as a caregiver at the Henderson Nursing Home. She was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson and enjoyed quilting and doll collecting.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Robert Claassen of Tuscon, AZ and Timothy Claassen of London, England; three daughters: Mary (Paul) Sherman of Peoria, AZ, Kathryn Claassen of Kailua Kona, HI and Elva (Wayne) Moore of Aurora, NE. Also surviving are six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

As per her wishes, Neva was cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Henderson Care Center.
