James Chenault

James Miller Chenault age 87 of York, NE died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at York. He was born May 23, 1924 to Virgil and Marjorie (Miller) Chenault in San Pedro, CA. Jim was a member of the United States Air Corp/Air Force, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. On April 30, 1955 he was united in marriage to Donna Hahn in York.

Jim was a member of First United Methodist Church in York, York American Legion Club and York Elk’s Club. Jim’s true passion was flying, and other than his family, Jim was most proud of his military service as a pilot. Jim was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross on April 12, 1951. After concluding his military service, Jim continued to fly as a local crop duster and private pilot. Jim was an avid Husker football fan. Jim also enjoyed fishing, golfing, baseball and raising horses.

He is survived by his son James and his wife Therese Anderson of Northfield, MN, three daughters; Karen and her husband Mike Unterseher of Norman, OK, Kathleen Chenault and her husband Terry Leonard of Rockville, MD and Kristen and her husband Eric Fenske of New Liberia, LA. His grandchildren include: Michael James and his wife Jodi Anderson of Medford, MN, Kasey Lee Unterseher of Nellis AFB at Las Vegas, NV, Cody James Unterseher of Norman, OK, Dylan James Leonard of Rockville, MD, Cameron Rae Leonard of Rockville, MD, Jordeyn Rae Johnson of York and Eric Lane Fenske of New Iberia, LA. Also surviving are four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a grandson Justin Ryan “JR” Unterseher.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Burial was in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the York Adopt -A-Pet.
