Elizabeth "Bette" Chambers

Elizabeth M. “Bette” Chambers age 88, of Lincoln, NE died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Lincoln. She was born November 6, 1921 at York, NE to Jefferson Edwin and Carrie Mabel (Summers) Toombs. She was a graduate of York High School. Bette was a nursing assistant in the Lincoln and Des Moines area for over 20 years. She worked at the Principal Financial of Des Moines, IA for 8-10 years prior to her retirement. Bette enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Sue) Chambers of Escondido, CA and Douglas (Tina) Chambers of Altoona, IA; daughter Karen (Larry) Clark of Lincoln. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Angela (Nathan) Antons of Lincoln, Jennifer Chambers of Escondido, CA, Jessica (Marc) Rizzotto of Escondido, Heather (Mark) Mc Connell of Norwalk, IA and Jeff Chambers of Escondido. Bette also leaves behind a great grandson, Jett “Squirt” Antons of Lincoln, and one sister Maxine James of Kimball, NE. Preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers and three sisters and an infant sister.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Greenwood Cemetery, York, NE. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to Tabitha Meals on Wheels, 4720 Randolph St., Lincoln, NE.
