LaVeta Cecava

LaVeta M. Cecava age 85 of York, NE died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Lakewood Colorado. She was born November 2, 1924 at Nelson, NE to Henry and Anna (Wasia) Bolte. LaVeta and Ernest Cecava were united in marriage on November 5, 1946 at Deweese, NE. Their union was blessed with seven children. Ernest and LaVeta loved polka dancing and attending Czech festivals. LaVeta worked at the York College Cafeteria until her retirement. She was a wonderful cook and will be remembered for her kolaches, cookies and baked goods. She also enjoyed working in her garden. Most of all, LaVeta loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York.

She is survived by her children: Donna Cecava of Omaha, NE, Richard Cecava, wife Kristine and children, Eric and Ted of Sidney, NE, Robert, wife Fe and children Daniel and Dominic of Corinth, TX, Patricia Hager, husband Douglas and children Nichole and Mick of Arvada, CO, Joseph Cecava, wife Rita and children Monica and Jessica of Lakewood, CO, Michael Cecava, wife Mary and children Andrew, Stephanie and Peter of Monticello, IL, and John Cecava, children Eli and Haley of Hastings, NE. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with Father Mark Tasler officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, York. A Rosary was said Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Metz Mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
