Robert Byrnes

Robert S. “Bob” Byrnes, age 98 of York, NE, died Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at York. He was born May 7, 1908 in York to Dr. Carl and Alice (Moore) Byrnes. He graduated from York High School and then attended and played football at York College. Bob worked at the Fairmont Creamery in York and Lincoln for several years and then was a mass transit bus driver in Lincoln. Before his retirement he drove a mass transit bus in Los Angeles, CA for 27 years. He was a member of the Masons, the Shriners and was an award-winning trap shooter in the Isaac Walton League. He also enjoyed traveling worldwide.

Bob is survived by his daughter, June Clausen of Vista, CA; longtime cherished companion Katherine Londo of Torrence, CA; sister-in-law Dorothy Byrnes of York; nephews, Jerry Byrnes and his wife Marcia Jacobson of York, Don Byrnes and his wife Lynette of Lincoln, David Sheeran and his wife Ann of Bedford, TX, Jim Sheeran and his wife Ann of Denton, TX; nieces, Jean and her husband Bill Schuester of Phillips, NE, Carol and her husband Jim Kmoch of York; special friends, Elmer and Beverly Epp of Henderson, NE, DaWayne & Sheila Nelson of Benedict, NE. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife, daughter Patricia Magdaleno, brother Don Byrnes, sisters, Pauline Sheeran and Allegra Wedberg.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 14, 2006, at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Jeff Wulf officiating. Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to the York General Hearthstone or to the family.
