Myrtle Burhoop
Myrtle Mae Burhoop age 94 of York, NE died Friday, May 11, 2007 at York.
She was born April 16, 1913 at Orchard, NE to Claude E. and Edith B. (Sharp) Sloane.
Myrtle was a former York area cook at the I.O.O.F. Home in York for five years and then at Epworth Village for six years and was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York. She was also a member of the Yorktown Navy Mothers, the Rebeckah Lodge #55 and the Church Women. She also enjoyed being with her family.
On May 7, 1932 she was married to Elmer J. Tonniges at Hershey, NE and then on December 30, 1979 she was married to Alfred W. Burhoop at York.
She is survived by four sons, Gale and his wife Gloria Tonniges of York, Ron and his wife Janet Tonniges of Utica, Dennis and his wife (Holly) Tonniges of Stuart, FL and Randy Tonniges and his wife Deann Tonniges of Kearney.
Three daughters, Wilma and her husband Don Miller of McAllen, TX, Shirley and her husband Vern Wolstenholm of Prior Lake, MN and Sharon Gibb of Aurora, NE;
28 Grandchildren;
61 Great Grandchildren; and
9 Great Great Grandchildren.
Also surviving is a daughter in law Chris Tonniges of York.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one son Gene, one grandson Robert Miller, two great grandsons Derek and Craig, six brothers, John, Jess, Glen, Ivan, Myrl “Shorty” and Elzie. One sister Elsie Spinnler.
Funeral services were May 15, 2007 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Terry Cosier officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in York.
