Arlen Burhoop

Arlen Elroy Burhoop, age 76 of York, Nebraska died Saturday, February 05, 2005 at York. He was born February 24, 1928 at Utica, Nebraska to Alfred and Edna (Leybold) Burhoop and attended York County and York High Schools. On August 8, 1953 he was married to Virginia Kelley at Seward. Arlen was Member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York and was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict. After returning home from the service Arlen worked for Sears and Company in York for 13 years until joining his father-in-law in the electrical repair business. He later started Burhoop Electric and in later years worked for Power Service in York until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed his children and especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his son Brent and his wife Neta Burhoop of Henderson and two grandchildren, Emily June Burhoop and Jason Richard Burhoop both of Henderson. Also surviving is his twin sister Ardis Epke of York and several nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Bryan and his sister Mary Ellen Brackhan.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Tim Marshall officiating. Burial will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation begins after 5:00 p.m. Monday evening.
