Alice L. Brouillette
Alice L. Brouillette, age 85 of York died Monday July 26, 2004 at Fairmont, NE. She was born in Custer County, Nebraska on September 26, 1918 to Charles Reed and Flossie Palmer. Alice grew up and stayed native to Nebraska where in 1935 she married Ross F. Chambers. Together they had four children, Franklin, James, Michael and Patricia. Ross died in 1950 and Alice raised their children on her own until 1962 when she met and married Zotic Brouillette. Two more children, Dwaine and Beverly, became part of the family. Zotic preceded Alice in death in 1967.
Known to many as “Alice at the Piano,” she played and entertained many through Chances “R”, the Rotary, Sertoma, Legion-Auxiliary, Does, Fun Club, and Senior Citizens. But most of all she served the Lord as an organist and pianist for the Baptist Congregational Church in York. The service Alice provided to the community will be sorely missed by many, but the smiles and joy she brought to everyone she met will be remembered fondly.
Alice is survived by her children Franklin (Frankie) Chambers of Byars, OK, James Chambers of Garden Grove, CA, Michael (Linda) Chambers of Fairmont, NE, Patricia Siegel of Edmond, OK, step-son, Dwaine Brouillette of Exeter, NE and step-daughter, Beverly (Leroy) Cary of Bennington, NE. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a sister Mary Condon and son-in-law Robert Siegel.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the Baptist Congregational Church in York, NE. Private family inurnment will be held at a later time in Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association. Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday at Metz Mortuary in York.
