Roy Bristol
Roy M. Bristol, age 92, of Fairmont, died Friday, April 25, 2003 in Fairmont. He was born February 17, 1911 at south of Waco, NE., to Oswald C. and Minnie (Schilling) Bristol. He was a longtime farmer having farmed at various places including south of Waco, Charleston and the Benedict areas. Roy was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in York, was a longtime 4-H leader at Waco and served on various school boards. He was also a caretaker at the York County Fairgrounds and was currently a member of the Fairmont Community Church. He married Gwendolyn “Avis” Crowder on May 19, 1935 at Waco.
Survivors include his 4 sons and their wives; David & Charlene Bristol of Fairmont, Jerry and Linda Bristol of Cordova, Norman & Monica Bristol of Exeter and John & Winnie Bristol of Ft. Dodge, IA; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers; Milton & Iona Bristol of Waco and Richard & Irma Bristol of Aurora, NE. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Avis, a son Robert, 1 brother and 1 sister.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Rev. Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
