Evelyn Bristol

Evelyn L. Bristol, 79, of York died Thursday, May 1, 2003, in York. She was born Sept. 21, 1923. at Waco to Henry and Caroline (Schlecte) Stuhr. She attended St. John Parochial School and graduated from Waco High School. Evelyn married Rupert Bristol on April 1, 1945, at Waco. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in York. She was a longtime member of the Ladies Aid and LWML. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Aging Services, York Hospital Auxiliary and Emmanuel Lutheran School. She is survived by one son. Michael (Mary Ann) Bristol of Thayer; three daughters, Mar) (Ivan) Wellman of Waco, Susan (Leonard) Johnsen of Bruning and Judy (Mark) Schernikau of Oakland, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Caroline (Arlin) Hagerman of Albia, Iowa; brother, Reiny (Ella) Stuhr of Waco. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2003 at Faith Lutheran Church in York. Burial was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Thayer.
