Curtis Bristol

Curtis C. Bristol age 89 of York, NE died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Fairmont, NE. He was born January 8, 1920 at York, NE to Chris C. and Lena (Naber) Bristol. Curtis was a longtime York County farmer and a lifetime member of the Lutheran church currently attending First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York. He was a member of the York Elk’s Lodge #1024 and the Downtown Sports Club in Lincoln. On September 10, 1943 he was married to Dora Stuhr at Waco. She passed away in April of 1979. Then on December 22, 1979 he was married to Edith Opitz at York. He is survived by his wife Edith of Fairmont, his son Gale and his wife Sharon Bristol of York and a daughter in law Mary Bristol of Anchorage, Alaska. His grandchildren include Michael and his wife Emmily Bristol of Las Vegas, NV, James and his wife Amie Bristol of Anchorage, Alaska, Clay Bristol of Lincoln, Holly Bristol and Heather Bristol both of Austin, TX. Three step-daughters Janice and her husband Jim Lundy of York, Karen and her husband Gary Helmer of Arthur, NE and Barbara and her husband Tony Kopec of Eatonville, WA. Also surviving is a brother in law Reiny Stuhr and his wife Ella of Waco. Nephews, nieces and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dora, son David, a brother and sister in law Rupert and Evelyn Bristol.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 am Monday, April 13, 2009 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Terry Cosier officiating. Burial was in York’s Greenwood cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York.
