Ford "Barney" Bond
Ford “Barney” Coleman Bond, age 96 of York, died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at York. He was born November 15, 1908 at Gresham, NE to Coleman and Olive (Parker) Bond. He graduated from Gresham High School and attended University of Nebraska Agriculture College. On January 3, 1933, he was married to Dollie Kirby at Gresham. He farmed and was employed by Polk Co. ASCS and the Federal Farm Program until his retirement. They moved from the farm to Osceola in 1956 and then to York in 1964. After moving to York he worked for J.P. Cunningham Co. & Harre Construction. He had been a member of the Wayland Congregational Church near Gresham and the Osceola United Methodist Church. He was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church in York. He also belonged to the Odd Fellows and several bridge clubs.
Barney is survived by his wife Dollie of York; son Ralph (Janis) Bond of Fremont; daughter Bonnie (Jack) Conrad of Albion; six grandchildren, Steve (Marcia) Bond of Columbus, OH, Chris (Linda) Conrad of Lincoln, Kathi (Charles) Eberle of David City, Janna (Doug) Gappa of Fairbury, Scott (Janey) Bond of Southlake, TX and Julie (Nolan) Hueftle of Broken Bow. Sixteen great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren and two step great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Graveside services wwere held that afternoon at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Gresham.
