Dollie Bond

Dollie C. Bond age 91 of York, NE died Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at York. She was born July 22, 1914 at Gresham, NE to James E. and Lucie C. (Girard) Kirby. She graduated from District 55 in York County and from Gresham High School in 1932. She married Ford Barney Bond on January 3, 1933 also at Gresham. Dollie sold food supplements and farmed with her husband in York County until moving to Osceola in 1956. She worked at the Osceola Variety store until 1960 and then worked for the Stromsburg and Columbus Natural Gas Company until moving to York in 1964. Dollie then became office manager and bookkeeper for J.P. Cunningham Co and Harre Construction Co until her retirement. She was a former member of the Wayland Congregational Church near Gresham and the Methodist Church in Osceola. She was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church in York. She was an active member in these churches until just recently. She was a member of the York P.E.O. and past District President of the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed playing cards in several card clubs, bowling, crafts and helping relatives and friends.

Dollie is survived by her son Ralph and his wife Janis Bond of Fremont, NE, daughter Bonnie and her husband Jack Conrad of Albion, six grandchildren, Steve and his wife Marcia Bond of Columbus, Ohio, Chris and his wife Linda Conrad of Lincoln, Kathi and her husband Charles Eberle of David City, NE, Janna and her husband Doug Gappa of Fairbury, Scott and his wife Janey Bond of Southlake, TX and Julie and her husband Nolan Hueftle of Broken Bow, NE; 16 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren 3 step great great grandchildren; 2 sisters Olive Siffering of Lincoln, NE and Wilma and her husband Lindley Kessler of Gresham, NE She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ford, 1 brother and 3 sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Graveside services will then be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Gresham. Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at the Metz Mortuary in York.
