Verna Bolte
Verna Mathilda Bolte, age 90, longtime York resident, died Monday, February 28, 2005 at Exeter. She was born January 2, 1915 at Waco, NE to Herbert R. and Bertha (Burhoop) Blum. She attended school at St. John’s School south of Waco. Verna was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of York. She married Walter F. Bolte at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Waco on August 16, 1936. Walter died in 1977. Verna worked many places in York notably MM’s, Wheelers, Piepers Hardware and Miller Cabinet Shop. She enjoyed gardening and her family.
Verna is survived by her son Myron and his wife Dee Bolte of York; 2 daughters, MaryAnn and her husband Mike Bristol of Thayer and Connie and her husband Glen Shockey of York; 8 grandchildren, Terese (Don) Knipfel of Plattsmouth, Denese Hiebner of Henderson, Brent (Chris) Bolte of Lincoln, Rhonda Walford and special friend John Graham of York, Russell (Michele) Shockey of York, Deanne (Adam) Hamilton of St. Joseph, MO, Kim (Tom) Hart of York and Daniel Bolte of Lincoln; 21 great-grandchildren, step-grand children and step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Clarence (LaVerna) Blum and 3 sisters, Mildred Klemz, Ruby (Roy) Dinkelman all of York and Joan (Burton) Hoffschneider of Waco. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, a sister-in-law, brother-in-law and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Art Brinkmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at York. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Church or family.
