Clarence Blum
Clarence E. Blum age 87 of York, NE formerly of Waco, NE died Friday, December 15, 2006 at York.
He was born February 4, 1919 at Waco, NE to Herbert R. and Bertha H. (Burhoop) Blum and was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Waco.
Clarence farmed in the Waco area for many years, worked at Grants Truck Stop at Waco for 13 years and helped at Chances “R” part time as well.
A WW II veteran, Clarence was a lifetime member of both the VFW Post in York and the York American Legion Bolton Post. He was also a lifetime member of the Persian Gulf Command and formerly a member of the School and Finance Boards at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
On December 2, 1945 he was married to LaVerna E. Knudsen at Waco, NE
He is survived by his wife LaVerna Blum of York, two sons, Dean and his wife Verla Blum of McCool Jct., NE and Gary and his wife Lori Blum of Malcolm, NE. Three daughters, Ruth Marie and her husband Rex Thorne of Casper, WY, Carol Alschwede of Lincoln, NE and Doris and her husband Joel Zuellner of Campbell, NE;
11 Grandchildren; and
14 Great Grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Ruby and her husband Roy Dinkleman of York, Mildred Klemsz also of York and Joan and her husband Burton Hoffschneider of Waco.
Many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, great-grandson Brett, son-in-law Gary, four brothers Roy, Irven, and twin infant brothers and two sisters Esther and Verna.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Waco. Burial was in John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Building fund or the Juvenile Diabetes Assoc.
