Elwin Block

Elwin Franklin Block, age 90, of York, died Monday, September 19, 2005 at York. He was born October 14, 1914 near Bruning, NE to Frederick Herman and Clara (Robohm) Block. Elwin was a 1932 graduate of Bruning High School. He was married to Erma R. Hermann at Bruning on February 3, 1940. Elwin was a veteran of WWII having served in the European Theatre. He and Erma moved to York in 1948 where he was a longtime member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, LLL and the American Legion. Elwin is survived by his son David Block and his wife Carlyn of Omaha; daughter Suzanne Biard and her husband Paul of Paonia, CO; grandchildren, Amy (Block) Littler and husband David, Jeffrey Block and wife Michele, and Chad Block; four great- grandchildren Jacob, Kaden, Abby and Aaron; two step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2005 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Timothy Marshall officiating. Graveside services will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Bruning, NE at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Building Fund or Tabitha Hospice. Visitation will be from 2-9 pm Thursday with family greeting friends from 5-7 pm at the mortuary.
