Mary Berryman
Mary Helen Berryman of York went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2006 in Lincoln, NE. She was born July 27, 1920 in North Braddock PA to Harry and Agnes (Kost) Hissrich. On June 28, 1946 she was united in marriage to John E. Berryman in Braddock, PA. They moved to Lincoln, NE in 1947. Mary Helen was the Administrative Assistant for the State of Nebraska Engineers and Architects Examining Board until her retirement in 1985 when she moved to York. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York, the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and the Legion Auxiliary. Mary Helen enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, needlework and making over 5000 rosaries for the missions.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, June and her husband Stan Klute of York, Elva and her husband Bob Bourgeois of Baton Rouge, LA; one grandson, Brandon Bourgeois of Baton Rouge; one brother, Harry and his wife Fran Hissrich of Pittsburgh, PA. Also surviving are a niece, nephews and a host of wonderful friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband John in 1979 and two sisters, Louise Colville and Jeanne Oskin of Pittsburgh.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 9, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York. Graveside services were held Friday at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
