Donna Behnken

Donna Behnken, age 65, formerly of Shelton, NE, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at Hastings. Donna was born in rural Buffalo County, NE on January 30, 1938 to Donald and Lucille Oliver. She attended country school in Buffalo County and later graduated from Shelton High School in 1955. After graduating from Kearney teachers college, Donna taught at Bradshaw, NE. While living in York Donna met her future husband Dale Behnken and they were married August 28, 1959 at Shelton, NE. They lived in Grand Island for a short time and then moved to Shelton in 1967. Donna had belonged to 4-H, Extension Club, DAR and LWML at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Shelton. She is survived by her son Curtis Behnken and family of Columbus, NE, son and daughter-in-law Craig and Tracy Behnken of Omaha, sisters, Barbara Shepardson of Mason City, NE and Nancy Shavlik of Bartlett, NE. Also surviving are her 5 grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband Dale and her parents. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Rev. Dick Woolard. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery of York. Memorials may be directed to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of York.
