Allen Barrett

Allen Barrett, age 80, retired longtime York businessman, died Saturday, December 20, 2003 at York. He was born in York May 24, 1923 to Cecil and Edith (Sanmann) Barrett. He was married to Shirley Salyard at York on June 24, 1946. Allen started the Barrett-Monismith Men's Clothing Store in York which later became Allen Barrett Men's Clothing. He sold to Tom's Clothing in 1965. He later worked for several years at Ben Simons in Lincoln until his retirement. He is survived by his children; Bob and his wife Gina Barrett of Lincoln and Sally and her husband Bryce Benscoter of Springfield, MO; 3 grandchildren; Bobbie Jo Barrett of Lincoln and Brent & Carly Benscoter of Springfield; his sister Maxine (Evan) Pickrel of Alexandria, VA and his special friend Lou Thompson of York. Memorial services were held on Tuesday December 23, 2003 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Rev. Jeff Wulf. Memorials may be directed to the Cancer Fund.
