Allen Barney

Allen Weber Barney age 91 of York, NE formerly of Bradshaw died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at York, NE. He was born February 22, 1917 in rural Friend, NE to Emil B. and Amelia (Weber) Barney and graduated from Friend High School in 1934. Allen was a member of the Bradshaw United Methodist Church, I.O.O.F. Friend #69, York County Planning Commission, served on the Bradshaw School Board for 13 years, Bradshaw Senior Citizens, former York County Cattle Feeders Association and the Nebraska Cattle Feeders Association. On September 3, 1940 he was married to Norma Esther Dingman at Friend.

He is survived by two sons, Norman and his wife Carol Barney of Olathe, KS and Robert and his wife Joyce Barney of Council Bluffs, IA. Two daughters Ann and her husband Clinton Philson of McCool Jct, NE and Carol and Dallas Fenster of Holdrege, NE. 12 Grandchildren 14 Great Grandchildren One brother Jim Barney of Seattle, WA, two sisters Jean Talley of Friend and Lois and her husband Don Mathes of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his brother Jim.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 P.M., Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Michael Eickhoff officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in York with memorials being directed to Parkinson’s Research or to the York General Hearthstone. Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning with the family greeting friends later from 12:30 until service time Thursday.
