Lawrence Baldwin
Lawrence W. Baldwin age 79 of York, NE died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at York.
He was born June 3, 1927 at Ponca, NE to Milo F. and Ida R. (Dicks) Baldwin.
He was a longtime truck driver for the Russell Miller Milling Co in Sioux City, IA. Then in 1967 he moved his family to York where they operated the Skelly Truck Stop from 1967 to 1976. Next he went to work for Sunflower Beef Packers in York for three years before his retirement.
A Korean Conflict Veteran, Lawrence enjoyed attending farm sales, raising livestock and following the agriculture and business markets in his spare time. His favorite hobby was ‘scrapping.’
On June 3, 1951 he was married to Norma Buck at Anthon, IA. He was then married to Della Cunningham in Lincoln.
He is survived by three sons, Dan Baldwin, Larry and his wife Lynn Baldwin and Ken Baldwin all of York; two daughters Rynee Spencer of McCool Jct., and Sheila Baldwin of York;
six Grandchildren; and
four Great Grandchildren.
Also surviving is a brother Wesley and his wife Vera Baldwin of Anthon, IA; a sister Bonnie Albers of Kingsley, IA; and
many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
Memorial services were Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the Metz Chapel in York. Lawrence’s wishes were to be cremated. Memorials may be directed to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lincoln. Private family inurnment will be held at a later time.
