Ervin Abelbeck

Ervin E. Abelbeck age 90 of York, NE died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at York. He was born March 24, 1920 at Hardy, NE to August and Clara (Kettelhut) Abelbeck and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in York. Ervin was a longtime Thayer county farmer before moving to York where he was employed at Miller Seed and Supply for several years. He then worked for the City of York until retiring. He enjoyed woodworking, making crafts and gardening and was a member of Card Club. On July 28, 1946 he was married to Mabel E. Peters at Deshler, NE.

He is survived by two sons; Randall and his wife Marge Abelbeck of Lincoln, NE and Stewart and his wife Michelle Abelbeck of Omaha, NE, two daughters; Sally and her husband Jeff Biegert of Laramie, WY and Rachelle and her husband Delton Neemann of Hastings, NE. His grandchildren include; Lindsey and her husband Scott McCray of Dallas, TX. Hannah Abelbeck of Mount Joy, PA, Natasha and her husband Matt Harris of Denver, Co, Austin and his wife Katy Abelback of Las Vegas, NE, Kelsey Biegert of Chicago, ILL and Claire Abelbeck of Lincoln, NE. Also surviving are his two sisters Arlene Matthiesen of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Gladys and her husband Reuben Schliefer of Chester, NE and two sister in laws; Glennis Abelbeck of Hebron, NE and Irene Fintel of Deshler, NE. Many nephews nieces and a host of other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his brother Lloyd.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Allen Bergstrazer officiating. Burial was in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel – Faith Little Blessings Pre-school.
