Irene Mundt

Irene E. Mundt , age 90, of Stromsburg, NE died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Stromsburg. She was born March 10, 1921 on the family farm northeast of Hampton, NE to Gustav and Minnie(Rau) Heiden. Irene attended Zion Lutheran School. Irene helped on the family farm and helped her neighbors until she was married to Carl Mundt on December 5, 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church at Hampton. She and Carl farmed northwest of Polk until 1974 when Carl passed away. She then worked at the Osceola Hospital for awhile as a cook, and then cooked at the school in Polk until age 74. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk.

She is survived by her daughter Anita and husband George Wochner and son Thomas and wife Nancy Mundt, all of Bradshaw NE, and son Richard and wife Carla Mundt of Aurora, NE. Grandchildren are Lynn Wochner, Jeff Wochner, Joel Wochner, Charles and Tara Mundt, Ed and Melissa Mundt, Amy and Mark Rotter, Aaron and Hillary Mundt, Abbie and Adam Peterson, and Andrew Mundt. Great grandchildren are Carl and Marlie Mundt, Parker Mundt, Ashlyn Rotter, Wyatt Troudt, and Camryn and Halee Peterson, Sisters in law Marie Wohl and Dorothy and husband Rolland Bamesberger. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Carl, her brother Clarence and Alma Heiden, and sisters, Norma and Paul Budnick, Gertrude and Ray Rohde, and Frances and Elmer Klute and Lester Rehrs.

Memorial services were held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk, NE. Private family burial was held prior to services. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the Polk Rescue Unit.
